2016 Dupasquier Savoie Jacquere

Domaine Dupasquier

Regular price $32.00

David Dupasquier is a fifth generation winemaker at the Dupasquier estate. Their vineyards are located in Southwest Savoie, near the Rhone Valley. The Dupasquier wines are often described as “traditional” but it is important to recognise what makes them so. Many of their vineyards are worked on foot as they are too steep for machinery and the fruit is harvested by hand. They only use indigenous yeasts for fermentation and the wines undergo extended maturation in old, neutral barrels. The wines appeal to a broad range of tastes; with the Jacquere being on the more delicate end of the spectrum. Savoie wines have flown under the radar for quite a while now and it’s time everyone saw how good they are.

A fleshy but restrained wine. Aromas of apple and fresh grass. The palate has an oily texture with flavours of green apple and banana and subtle notes of honey. The finish shows minerality and bright acidity. An interesting wine that would suit an eggplant parmigiana.
