2015 was the year Travis Tausend embarked on his winemaking journey. Like many young winemakers in Australia, the first years are the hardest, sourcing fruit, borrowing equipment and bouncing from shed to shed. It wasn’t until 2017 that Travis was able to produce all of his wines using fruit from a single vineyard; Magpie Springs in Hope Forest. He was also able to make the wines in a shed located very close to the vineyard. In 2018 Travis has begun leasing the rows in the vineyard which he has been acquiring his fruit from. He will mange all the farming of his rows inclusive of: pruning, cover crops, soil management and introduce some bio-dynamic practices to this already organic vineyard.
A very smart and tidy wine. The nose has a touch of creaminess mixed with beautiful floral aromatics and green fruits. The palate is nice and fresh with a superb mineral component. A thoughtful and considered wine made with no sulphur additions. Would be enjoyed with a light, fresh whitefish dish.
