Commune of Buttons is a collaboration between siblings Sophie and Jasper Button. They returned home in 2013 to try and resurrect the family vineyard which was planted 20 years ago by their mother. Focusing mainly on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with small platings of other varieties; Sophie and Jasper are involved in the entire winemaking process from herding the sheep in the vineyard to designing labels and bottling at the source. The Button farm is surrounded by lots of bushland and steep aspects on most sides which creates a very unique microclimate. The Button siblings have had an influence on their craft from many of the natural winemakers in the Basket Ranges including Anton Von Klopper, Taras Ochota, James Erskine and Gareth Belton.
A very interesting wine here. Some volatile acidity which is nicely integrated into the wine. Aromas of dried lavender and blackberry. The palate is where things get really wild. Stewed rhubarb and pickled daikon. We highly recommend drinking this wine chilled. Drink while eating pasta with vodka sauce.
