    Description

    Wine for the people !

Moscato Giallo & Vermentino grown by the Chalmers family on the slopes of Mt Camel in Heathcote Victoria and a small portion from their Merbein vineyard further north. It was a great season, long and cool with plenty of rain resulting in fruit of a very high quality when it came off the vine. Great flavor ripeness at relatively low sugar levels meant we were able to pick early to keep the alcohol level low (10.5%!) whilst still having exceptional flavor in the wine. These are the types of wines I strive to make, fresh, energetic and expressive at lower alcohol levels.

As always an expressive whack of florals on the nose, perfumed stone fruits, musk, lemon and spring blossoms. The palate being pretty much the antithesis of this. Fresh and pure with a cool slated steeliness and a fine citrus-like salinity to keep it all together.

    About Momento Mori

When it comes to cult winemakers there are only a few in Australia that have the same following as Momento Mori. With wines that are considered just as alive as the land they farm its not hard to see why.

Dane and Hannah begun Momento Mori with the ideology of creating wines that first and foremost respect the living and are wines that they like to drink and share. They farm two sites one on the steep hills of Strezelecki Ranges in Gippsland and another beneath the Black Snake Ranges in the Tonimbuk valley.

Farmed strictly with organic principles and a appreciation of the living and dynamic environment around them. Momento Mori wines are all very small batch with no use of new oak or mechanical pumps used on the wines, no fining or filtering and no additions, including no S02 at any stage of wine making.
