Ravensworth began its journey in 2001 under the pretext that ‘It seemed like a good idea at the time’ a family affair these days with life- shackled-partners Bryan and Jocelyn Martin teaming up with the brother David Martin. The vineyard is managed under what they call natural forestry principles. They currently encourage lots of different plants that produce long tap roots to get established, find their place and hopefully become part of their forest, they really try and not use any chemicals, certainly nothing that can harm the natural state of the vineyard. Even after a hot Summer, the vines exist in a calm place.
This vintage, Ravensworth made the decision to add Nebbiolo to this particular wine. This was meant to brighten up the wine and increase the drinkability; which it did. Bright red fruits with a savoury edge. Soft and smooth in the mouth with a very fine tannic wash through the palate. Enjoy this wine with mushrooms and braised green vegetables.
