Marc Castan founded Domaine mămărutá in 2009. He was originally working with a cooperative but as with many other winemakers, he wanted to go out and make his own wine. There is a strong maritime influence on these sites and Marc has converted both to organic. Marc has spent a lot of time in the vineyards to improve the health and quality of the vines and soil. He uses natural compost, herbal preparations, and plows to remove weeds. Marc harvests early so as to preserve acidity and ensure alcohol levels are not too high. The wines are made without additions, without filtration, and the use of SO2 is minimal or non-existent.
This is light to medium in style, and all dark wild berries and minerals. It’s a vin de soif, but still carries depth and complexity. It's a red that drinks a bit like a white, in that it's super fresh and crisp, and has nice tension on the back palate. This is very easy to drink, and you may find that you need more than one bottle! We recommend that you drink it slightly chilled... enjoy!
