Sunshine is upon us, so its time to play in parks, bum at beaches and frolic with friends. To get those sunny day juices flowing you need the perfect juice!
A menage a trois complete with skin contact and playfully luscious forbidden fruit ought to get the excitement levels up and quench that sweat on your brow, made to be shared...of course!
Transmission Wine Co 'Chardonnay'
We think of this wine as the Chablis of the amber wine world. The wine is cloudy amber in colour; yet has a surprisingly delicate nose of musk, peach, grapefruit and green apple; and the palate is surprisingly delicate - dry, bright, lemon zest, grapefruit, green apple, and sea spray with a very savoury finish. Great with chicken,
tofu, pizza/pasta. Perfect for chicken roasts, catching up with mates or picnics
Das Juice 'Maceration'
Our skin contact wine is a blend of Arneis (Peters Creek Vineyard – Organic), Sauvignon Blanc (Brackenwood Vineyard – Cert Biodynamic) and Riesling (Brackenwood Vineyard – Cert Biodynamic). Grapes were all hand picked on the same day before being de-stemmed and spent 16 days on skins before pressing where long slow natural ferment took place in tank.
All about stonefruit and fresh herbs on the nose. The palate is juicy and fresh with a light green pepper flavour. Smooth and round in the mouth too with a bit of a chalky textural finish.
Beyond the Glass 'Pippa' Pet-Nat
Ciaran Hudson has made a delicious Pet-Nat using Fiano from Heathcote. His notes on the wine below:
Hand made in Bacchus Marsh. A blend of two experiments really – half was pressed after a week on skins, with gentle-daily punch-downs. The other half saw two weeks on skins, with the same technique. Sulfur-free, Pét-Nat (pétillant naturel, or natural sparkling, in english).
Starting quite fresh and crisp, this adventurous bouteille de vin evolves into an unctuous spicy, juicy whole mouth peach punch. Made to be drunk now, during spring/summer, best shared with friends.
